That's the whole point of butterfly effect. You would not remember your old life, because after the time traveler makes that interaction, our "old lives" never took place. History is rewritten due to the time traveler's actions in the past. Of course our lives would be altered, our lives are made by history. When you change the past, you change the future.

Still, regardless if time travel is possible or not, would we really want to risk using it? Imagine the complications. If Xasparaz is correct, then you would have to cease to exist in your plane of existence and exist again in another. You may not survive. Even if you do survive, take the butterfly effect. Assuming it's correct, one tiny move could ultimately decide whether or not anything remains the same. Example:

You encounter Paul Revere. You distract him for a few moments, he misses/forgets his mission to warn the militia that the British were coming. The Americans get slaughtered, America is either forever altered or not made a country at all.

You see, time travel can be possible. But can we physically survive it? And would we really want to risk it? It's just too powerful a knowledge to be trusted to us.

I agree with Gwas. You don't know where a black hole leads, if it leads anywhere at all. We don't even know if it's a hole. And we can't really compare them to wormholes, as wormholes are only theoretical, therefore nobody truly knows what they look like, how they behave, if they even exist at all. What we do know about black holes is that they have such a strong gravitational pull that even light cannot escape its grasp. Most people believe them to be the remnant of dead stars, what they become. I don't believe black holes lead anywhere. Because, to me, they are not holes. To me they are centers of immense gravitational strength. And, if they do lead somewhere, we would not know because the person would be ripped apart or, on the impossibility that he survives, we would most likely lose contact.

Exactly, thus getting rid of the need to have someone "invent" time travel in the first place. Paradox, nature no-no, then, unless the Multiverse theory comes into play, I assume someone will be deleted. Probably the greedy man who gave us the blueprints.

SpherelordYou CAN travel into the future. You know that way that doctors freeze eggs and sperm? Well, if we could figure out a way to do that to US, (which could be easy for people that study that stuff) we could PRESERVE ourselves, go into a very long sleep, and wake up when ever we desire.

Preserve yourself, ask a friend to ask their descendents to keep you (sounds funny )
and when the time is right, they can unfreeze you. Your in da future, SAME age as when you froze!!!

That's what we call suspended animation, which most sci-Fi nuts like myself also know as cryogenic storage. Suspended animation is the slowing down of life processes (heart rate, brain function, respiration) but they can only be detected by artificial methods. Basically, we would need doctors to constantly be monitoring the US while it is suspended animation. This is possible. Take Laina Beasley for example. She was cryogenic ally kept as an embryo for thirteen years before being implanted into her mother's womb. She was born healthy. Fringe also covered this with their Amber, a silicon based aerosol that solidified when reacting with the nitrogen in the atmosphere. It's not what we know as time travel, though technically it counts. Very clever

Sadly freezing people in something like carbonite (:D) would most likely be illegal if effects are unknown. Also if the machine went wrong they could be stored too long or it may kill them. The chances of the faculty the tester started in may be in ruins if they wait too long.

That's the danger of this technology, and why it's usually not practiced. But, that's what testing is for. To find these problems and try to fix them. For science!!

Okay, let me make a strange example of what could happen with time travel:

If a crazy person found a way to successfully travel through time, into the past, to alter history to his liking, he would have to figure out a plan that leaves his entire family history intact and identical to the history he came from, while altering the rest of history to his liking. If he screws one thing up in his family, if he leaves one little fact altered, that could possibly keep two members of his family from meeting, his great-grandparents as an example, and then, *poof* everything from his grandparents to him would cease to exist, because his great-grandparents never met, which means he would not go back in time in the first place. The time traveler becomes a paradox, an abomination, an act against the laws of nature. Nature would have to heal itself, and delete him from the timeline.

So, even if time travel is possible, would we really want to use it? Like what many people said above me, if you succeed in completing your goal, the new timeline you created would give you no reason to use time travel at all, meaning that two copies of you will be running around amuck.

On the server I play on, whenever somebody says this, as it seems to happen every 2-3 days, we just say that we are all from PMC and we don't recognize you. Then we use the plugin that allows you to give yourself a nickname and change your name in the chat, and we make the admin use the name Cyprezz. Works like a charm, they scurry out of the server like mice confronting a cat.

Agreed. Bump it once, maybe twice and leave some amount of time in between, don't spam it every minute. It shows you're impatient, and nobody likes impatience

Bumping is good and bad, it does indeed get your post to the top and someone who may be interested in it will see, and go to it. They would not have seen the post otherwise. But, it also could drown out other posts if you just keep bumping and bumping, until every single post is a recent post. I say, bump twice, separate times, and if it still does not get seen, let it die.

    Ign: Supertoastfairy

    age: 14

how often you will play: I will play for about an hour or so on weekdays, and 2-3 hours on weekends.

what you do in tekkit: I basicly try to do a bit of everything in Tekkit, though some I know I won't be able to do, I try to fit in almost everything.

why can you be trusted: Yes, out of my 3 years of Minecraft I was banned once, which was by an avid Yogscast fan for using the red bearded dwarf skin used by Honeydew.

My Skype name is supertoastfairy, though I can't guarantee that I'll be on Skype all the time, as it lags a bit on Minecraft, for me anyway.

I agree. If you don't like the monsters and death, then go to Peaceful mode and play in Creative mode. If you don't like the new stuff, then don't update! They tell you what's going in the updates before they release it in Notch's blog and on their twitters

As many other people have said before, there is know end to Minecraft. When you kill the Enderdragon and see the credits, you just go back to whatever the heck you were doing or want to do.

It's not a map, it's a seed that gives you a sort of survival island. I posted it here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/m-system/
