All crafting recipes change to use stone instead of cobble, makes it harder and was proposed by dinnerbone at one point.
And so tempted to say...
Coastal erosion by tides, if a block has water applied for too long as is 'weak' (sand), it'll erode.
Anyway not sure what is possible but anyhow,
