I have a few ideas. Sorry, but I can't really help with models, they always come out really weird.
1. There should be a backpack at the start with a small pistol with 3/15 ammo and a note that says "It's dangerous to go alone, take this!"
2. There should be laser guns.
3. One boss enemy should be a crab with a space helmet that shoots lasers from its claws called "SLC" (Space Laser Crab)
4. Make the easiest enemy a little slime bouncing around
