If I run out of options I will most likely just sell it, because otherwise it would just be sitting there unused after I spent so much time making it.

What do you mean? My server actually is unique cause I made my own plugin that I've never seen made before.

EDIT: Maybe I'll just sell my plugin.

That's a good name. I could do that, but I know how annoying it is when people do that and I would probably feel bad.

I'll try more advertising tactics.

Yeah I'm not great at advertising. I did all of it myself, so I will take your advice and get someone to make art for me.

Not great at names either.


gigglejYou have to advertise like crazy! Get your server on server lists etc. Most of my players come from serverlists other than pmc.
I would recommend you make a youtube rank for people who make videos! That will get your server in the community more and will get your name out there. The most important thing is to try to create the best experience possible. Starting off is always tough, but keep trying! You probably do have a very unique server, try to get youtubers involved and spread it by word of mouth!

You must also make some really nice images so people can get a taste of the server before they play. I would recommend you get a banner professionally done! Trust me here, it really helps!

It's a plugin that lets people collect spells from monsters and randomly generating chests. They can write the spells in a book and quill and then click the book to use the spell. For example, the grenade spell throws a grenade where you're looking, pulls in nearby mobs and then explodes. I have about 70 spells that can be collected right now.

If you collect over 34 spells you can become a wizard by doing some weird ritual thing. Wizards have access to more powerful spells. Players can also challenge each other to duels in an arena where you can only use the spells you've collected.

So it's sort of like an RPG server, except it's never been done like this before.


BloxChief117To make your server bigger, create a website, hire some mods, have people advertise for benefits, donating, and more. If this doesn't work, oh well. We all start small.
Also, what is this plugin that you've created?

I've already hired some mods and set up donations. Having people advertise might help, though. And I haven't set up a website yet.

Yeah that would be a bad idea now that I think of it.

I will try to open the server as soon as I figure out what to add to these donator ranks... I'm open to suggestions.

Update: I am making donator ranks, where if you donate $5 you become a Mage with access to secret spells. If you donate $10, you become a Warlock, and you have all mage spells along with unique Warlock spells, weapons, and tools. I'm not sure what someone should get if the donate more than $10, maybe moderator or something.

Here's hoping people like the server enough to donate.

Okay great, I do need staff, but I'm currently in the process of setting it up. If you want I can let you check out the server before I make it public and I can probably let you be part of the staff.

Those are some good points. New players can teleport to a random location far from the spawn, which gives them the chance to find their own dungeons. This might take up a lot of memory on the server though, because there are so many chunks being loaded from exploring the ocean. Maybe I could make them generate in other biomes too.

I haven't added an economy system or McMMO, and I can't decide if I should. I want this server to be unique, and adding plugins that every other server already has would make it a little mundane in my opinion. But players seem to complain when a server doesn't have factions, chestshop, mcmmo, or other plugins like that. So I'll probably at least add an economy plugin, and make it a player-based economy.

I haven't published the server yet, but if you want, you can join my Hamachi server.

If anyone wants to join my Hamachi server and check it out, you can. It's not the official server though, eventually I will make it public to everyone. I also really need help getting it started if anyone wants to help.

I've added more spells, and now I made it so new players can teleport far away from the spawn. I'm trying to publish the server now..
