Because I'm having the exact same problem. I've restarted and it will work for a few seconds to a minute before going invisible. I'm changed all my setting multiple times and even completely deleted and reinstalled minecraft. My drivers are up to date, and I can play every other game perfectly fine (Assassin's creed, skyrim, morrowind, starbound, tomb raider). The only thing I haven't tried yet is to reinstall an older version of java.
