Minecraft username: oursong (all lowercase)
Timezone: UTC+8:00
Age: 15 years old (I will probably get denied due to it not reaching the limit of the set age: 16 years old, but why not give it a try? I'm not going to lie about my age just to trick the Owner into accepting me as a Staff Member.)
Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a working microphone? (yes/no) I could download TeamSpeak and install it as soon as it's needed.
I have access to a working microphone that's built into my laptop and a headset (Razer Kraken Pro)
Do you have the ability to record Minecraft video? It'll consist of lag (Assuming it is recording hackers or PvP battles). I have a quite bare minimum setup, my internet connection is really funky which makes me have to re-enter the server multiple times to get a steady connection and not kicked for timing out.
What times are you most active? During the weekends.
Here's my time frame (My timezone UTC+800)
Monday To Friday:
4:45 PM -10:30 PM ( 5 hours 45 minutes per day multiply this by 5 times and which is roughly 34 hours and 30 some minutes for WEEKDAYS ONLY
Saturday To Sunday
11:00 PM To 12:00 PM - 2:00 AM
I would highly not recommend weekends as reliable due to it being very "Wonky" and unpredictable at times. I did not factor in the time I would be spending with my family and other things such as: after school activities and simply to put it, just life coming up.
How many hours a week can you be active?
Explained in depth above!
Do you have previous experience managing minecraft servers (if yes, where at)?
Quite a tricky question indeed to say the least.
I have "managed" a few Minecraft server such as hosting online websites for my friends that does not consist of Minecraft. I used quotations on Managed because I do not quite know what kind of managing you are asking about, whether a successful or unsuccessful run. I HAD lots of Minecraft servers that turned out to be big flunks with few key problems most servers run into. Lack of interest for the server causing it to be forgotten / shutdown. Not enough funding (Which is a key one!) . I myself do not live in a place where paypal or any online methods of transporting money to regular sites such as PayPal BitCoin PayWall and the lines goes on. I have lots of experience with how servers work and how they function. My severs don't really involve pay to win or a payment wall that most companies and servers nowadays have. My server really just had a place where players or friends could hang out without all the competitiveness. Money / Chargebacks were another department in my other server so I didn't really involve myself with IRL money. I mostly managed the forums and in-game to make the server a experience to be remembered. I am dedicated to the server that I was always managing. I never ever had 2 positions on another server at once when I was a manager as I see the manager is more important than anything that I do (in-game of course!). Sorry for my rant it just I just get carried away typing all this information. If yes where at? A few servers that most people have never ever heard of. The biggest server I have ever been manager on was at Rewind Survival Network which was a corrupted pay to win server with most of the money funneling into the owners bank account and just blatantly bad. Few examples: Not paying the staff team that worked on the server (Builders And Plugin Developers), seeing as that could damage my reputation as a terrible person I left the network and a few months later the owner pulled the plug and took all the money with him.
Suppose it's your first week of being a Helper and you mute a well-known player. You're called a bad helper by other players, what do you do?
I would try to first explain the situation to other players that were bashing me about muting the well known player and try to explain my side of the story. If they are relentless then I will try to just calm them down and make sure the situation is handled properly and hand it off to higher up staff members to deal with the situation (Remember I'm a Helper!). There could be an entirely other reason was I truly made the mistake of muting someone that was innocent (Example: juck, I was misinterpret them of saying foul language instead of just calling another player) It should be my job to improve myself doing my job.
Do you have any other hobbies outside of Minecraft?
Gaming and hanging out with friends. I sing Taylor Swift daily at school. (Keeps me relevant and popular :) ) That's about it, I know I'm incredibly boring.
Tell us about a time you made a mistake within the last year?
There has been a lot. 2017 was an amazing, THE BEST year in my whole life, but with the good in my life there will always be bad and horrible times that rival it. I guess the big occurring theme in making my mistakes comes in the devastating form of : Memory. Where do I even begin? I first made a flop by embarrassing myself in-front of my class by forgetting my power point presentation. Second on the list was my god awful singing competition that I entered in, wow. I completely messed up my song and forgot the lyrics for it :( I got 4th place in it. Third and finally, the [State / City] wide English competition and forgot my speech and had to improvise from that point on.
How did you deal with it? What did you learn?
Those were the low points in my life but also the highest points in my life. I guess after admitting to myself that I was a big sack of shit. I decided to improve on the points or sit there crying for hours. (I ultimately chose sitting there crying for hours) I basically didn't give up but I tried my best to finish it. I think the big lesson here is when you know you've messed up big time you don't just give up you try to build upon what you have make it work for the best, Even if this was not the outcome you were honestly inspecting you could still change and turn it around. For me my examples will be my singing competition and my English speech competition.
I wanted to just walk right off the stage when I was stuck on my lyrics and failed the biggest moment in school depending if I was going to be crowned king or forever a loser. I was nervous as you could be. Standing in-front of 700 people with their eyes on you (700x2 is 1400 eyes, yikes!) and I did my best to try to remember my lyrics and make sure it worked the best it could. I ultimately won 4th place not because I sang good but because I did my best and that was all that really mattered. Giving it your best and failing is still a win. Not a big fat win but atleast it wasn't a complete L.
Do you have anything you would change about factions servers in general? Anything else we should know?
I would change how hard it is to get stuck on the first few days and just get people straight off the server with the "hook". It is a big moment when people like me are reviewing a server. Even if it has 10 plugins and it was up against a 1000 plugins server the 10 plugins would win because I was hooked on playing this server. It let me to feel fun on their server and it isn't about the size of the server what specs you have or how good your builds are. If a server is fun and gets you hooked on it, you'll play for days upon days on end. I wish more factions servers have the "hook".
Well, congrats. You made it to the end of my application (Unless you skimmed or just skipped), you may see how poor the grammar and spelling is! Well Well behold the truth. Not all applications are good upon a first draft but are polished through fixes and polishing it up. I am currently writing this at 12:04 AM and I seriously don't have the brains to polish it up. Jeez!!! I'm not lazy. It just my dad told me to go to sleep (Any reasonable parent would). I'm posting this to JakeN9 the reader of the application and will be finished first thing in the morning with color / grammarly fix.Sorry! -oursong <3
