Some servers will shut down, that's too bad, but it's what is right, IMO. Why should someone be able to take a free to play game and force others to pay money so that they can access things that were granted when whoever bought the game.
It's like buying a buss pass, but then having to pay extra because the bus driver (who doesn't even own the vehicle he's driving) says you have to pay for the bus gas, and he won't drive you unless you pay for the gas, even though the services of the ticket granted that you would be driven to said location.[/quote]

You were never forced to pay anything. Donations are not required.

Sure, and the community would accept this fact if Mojang would have been enforcing this in the first place. If it wasn't for servers I wouldn't even be playing Minecraft as the single player is very boring to me. I'm not saying Mojang doesn't have the rights to do what they want I'm just saying they should have cracked down on this from day one instead of enforcing this now and causing many people to lose jobs and their hard work. In the end, I think Minecraft will die because of these changes so it really doesn't matter. But it was just bad business on their part for letting it go on for this long.

But in the end, servers are what make Minecraft what it is, and server hosting isn't free.

I understand everyone's point of view but big Minecraft servers will have a hard time staying open after the EULA changes, not that I support a pay to win advantage but I wish the EULA wasn't as strict and allowed for a bit more room to work with. Small to Medium servers will do just fine with the EULA changes as Mojang will most likely never crack down on them because they are pretty small, large and huge servers will die because of this change. I think the EULA needs to be a little less strict so we can keep some of these bigger servers around, not a fan of a pay to win server at all. I haven't played a PvP server since 1.2.5 because they are always pay to win. I'm currently making my own PvP server, that is fair for non-paying players. But my server will have to stay alive as I'm not made of money. It is already looking to cost me $200 to start this server, EULA does make my life harder because it is very strict. But I will work around it and manage.

I would like to give thanks to everyone doing the survey! It helps in more ways then you probably think, this is going to give me a rock hard foundation on what type of server to make, and how to maintain it. Please keep the input coming!
