Honestly, I think both are equals. Which one is better all depends on what the user wants.
For example, if a stay at home mom wanted a computer she wouldn't have to constantly deal with viruses on, had a user friendly interface, and she merely wanted it to do simple things such as get on the internet and type up word documents, Macs would be the way to go for her. Now, you may be thinking "Macs cost a thousand dollars though! Literally!" Well, buy a used one. I bought a MacBook made in '09 for roughly $150 and it worked great for basic things!
Now let's say a 16 year old boy wanted a computer for playing games, surfing the web, and maybe some graphic design while you're at it he would probably choose Windows. Windows is capable of all three of those things while Mac is capable of 2. Now, while there are many games compatible with Mac out there, Mac's do not run games well. This is coming from a previous Mac user. Mac's suck for gaming. There is also a very small variety of software out there for Mac. If this 16 year old boy wanted to get a decent photo editor or drawing software, there would be hardly anything good out there for Mac.
So yea. That was just my opinion on the whole thing, which is basically that both are equally great computers, but one person may like the other better because they, like the stay at home mom, might just want something that does simple things, while others might want something that does more like the 16 year old boy.
