If you think about any area of the game for long enough, you can convince yourself it needs an update. We can always get more features and more features are pretty much always good.
Really, deserts have their own dedicated structure, bespoke villages, desert wells, a unique mob (even if it's just a husk) and it never rains there. We have all that for a biome that's meant to be barren and empty. I think it's one of the last biomes that need an update, and we've been getting plenty of upgrading updates recently anyway. I say bring on brand new ideas instead of always perfecting what we already have.
