In my opinion, that's a bit pricey. If you are going to get something that expensive, I would go for an intel core i7 3770K

For the latest build, get a good video card with it. Otherwise, it all looks pretty good to me. If you spend about 80-90 dollars on a video card, you could get a radeon hd 7770 which from what I have seen, handles the GLSL shaders mod on normal render distance while recording at about 40 fps. Your cpu is probably the best value for that price.

Making an npc village an actual village and building it up. Not to mention the 3 stacks of diamonds...

For minecraft it should be more than enough and it will probably run the GLSL shaders mod quite well too. I don't think it will have trouble with anything, but just being curious, what's your price range?
