I don't know about block states. But I know armor stands! If you are in 1.14+ consider using custom model data instead of damage variant. You can put the models on the armor stand head (I recommend block bench program) and put it in the world with spawn egg (if you know commands) and remove it with a removal spawn egg / break block below it. that way... you can have UNLIMITED models!

And that's why I programed it to be depleted in 30 mins (Except Environment)
And die if two needs are depleted. No Custom Death Messages tho
