    Small status update: I may not be very active here right now, but I have been posting on my DeviantArt page fairly frequently, and expect to keep doing so for a while (at least as long as I have good art photos sitting on my phone that I never bothered posting over the last several years...). So if any of you want to see more of my work outside of Minecraft skins, go check it out! :D

    Two weeks until semester finals are done! So close and yet so far… 😣

    I’ve got a lot of skin ideas and WIP skins I hope to get back to over winter break, including some more characters from Seekers of the Unwritten. Looking forward to having some more free time again!

    So today was the first day of the new college semester, and I have wrapped it up by finishing & posting one more skin! However, this will probably be my last new skin upload for at least couple weeks. There's a couple events happening this week and next weekend that I'm planning to go to, and that on top of coursework will probably take up most of my time/energy. I expect to still be checking my page & responding to comments/messages periodically though.

    After some consideration, I decided that PMC blogs would not be an ideal format for the writing project mentioned in my last wall post, both due to potential issues adding images, and since the story itself is long enough it might not work well in a single blog post and I don't really want to break it up. I could probably make it work, but it might take a while, and don't wanna spend a ton of time re-formatting stuff just now. This is the first time I stuck with a writing project long enough to get it to a revised state where I'm not embarrassed to show it to people, and I'm really excited to be able to share it here :D

    So instead of that, here's a link to the full story with drawings, as an article on my WorldAnvil page I use for keeping track of stuff in the larger story this project is a part of. One important note: this version is NOT mobile friendly. On my phone the drawings were halfway off the screen and sometimes showed up too early/late in the text. I might still try to get a PMC blog version, but in the meantime this should work well enough.

    ✨ On a totally different (and more interesting) note from my previous status-update wall post: ✨
    Throughout the summer I've been working on a short-story-of-sorts, (by which I mean it's technically a small piece of a much larger story but written to be more or less self-contained), and I'm hoping to be able to share it soon! Plus the skins I made of the characters, because of course I did. ;D I don't have a final title yet but I've been using the working title "Ashes and Embers".

    I don't want to say too much right away in order to avoid spoilers, but I will give a rough idea what it's about. The larger story centers around the four Guardians of the Elements, immortal sorcerers with exceptional power who were long ago tasked with protecting the land. The only problem is they don't all agree on exactly what this means in practice, and tensions have been gradually rising over time. This is especially true for the two Guardians who are the main characters in this short story: Kyndara, the Fire Guardian, and Mareneth, the Air Guardian. Not only do they disagree with each other, but they each have their own issues as well, and it's becoming more a question of when, not if, a tipping point will be reached...

    If you want images in a blog you will have to use a direct link, a word/Google document will work too though it won't be easy to find on your profile unless you put the link in your about widget

    Just a brief general update: As you may have noticed, I've recently reappeared from the void after being almost completely absent for several years on end. :P The last few years have been a massive headache in a variety of ways, but I'm crossing my fingers life doesn't throw any more curveballs at me any time soon. I won't continue to be as regularly active once the fall semester starts, but I hope to keep posting periodically as my schedule allows, possibly with more intense bursts during winter/summer breaks.

    Well. It's been a while, again. I was not expecting to go completely absent from PMC for that long...
    Having completed my first semester of college and now nearly halfway through my second, I can say confidently that being a perfectionist in college classes is not a recipe for success. It might get you good grades, but it's not worth all the stress and burnout, or at least it sure wasn't in my case.

    I know there are a lot of people who have perfectionist issues of some variety and there are plenty of available resources for dealing with it, but pretty much all the resources I've found are only addressing the mindset part of the problem. Getting past that feeling that you have to do your best on everything is certainly the most important step, but when you've been a perfectionist all your life and have literally never done a project or assignment without putting in 100% effort, just realizing you're ok with B's or C's doesn't solve the whole problem. Last semester I discovered that, in all honesty, I didn't know how to try to do anything other than my best on anything. Even if it was for a class I didn't like and didn't care how well I did as long as I passed, when I actually sat down to work on an assignment I found myself nitpicking details and putting way too much time & effort into it, and then afterwards wondering why I did that. I really wish someone had bothered to teach me how to do less well at some stuff so you have more energy for other stuff.

    Thankfully, I think I'm starting to figure things out, even if I've been learning it the hard way. This semester hasn't exactly been great, for a number of reasons, but at least it's been less overwhelming than the fall so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way; I've really missed having enough energy to do creative stuff in my free time. I've still got loads of skin ideas I'd love to finish at some point, and I'm hoping maybe I can finally get back to that in some semi-regular manner. :)

    It's kind of inspiration for me cause I have a story that I started writing that I didn't finish, maybe I'll get back to it sometime :)

    Your skins are awesome but real life stuff like college takes precedent so not having any is no big deal! There's plenty of them that you have released that are great. I hope you can find some time to relax and take care of yourself!

    I figured out why I was having trouble making collections. It was a phone vs computer issue, as I suspected. Once I tried on my laptop everything worked as expected. :D

    …Anyway, I now have three finished D&D character skins (and a few more in the works), so I decided to make this an actual skin series and made a collection for it.

    You can fix any issues by scrolling right to the bottom of any page on PMC and pressing "switch to Desktop version"

    …is anyone else having trouble creating new collections? I checked the “how to” pmc page and it said to click the manage collections button but it’s not where the article said it should be and I can’t find it anywhere else. I thought it might be a phone vs computer issue so I tried switching to the desktop site from my phone but it didn’t help. I’ll try from an actual computer tomorrow. Meanwhile if anyone else has had or is having this problem I’d love to hear if you’ve found any solutions.

    After making a skin of one of my D&D characters I've started working on a handful of other D&D character skins. I've played quite a number of characters over my years of D&D games so there's a long list of potential skins in that series (assuming I make enough to call it an actual series :P). Interestingly, this is happening at the same time as Logmaiden's Calling All Heroes skin contest, so with any luck I might have enough incentive to finish several fairly soon!

    I just counted and it turns out I have 52 in-progress skin concepts/designs sitting in various folders on my laptop. I know I have a habit of starting things and not finishing them, and it did take several years to get to this point, but... wow. Some of them are clearly super old, but a number of the comparatively recent ones seem worth coming back to. Now I just have to figure out which ones I actually want to finish and which get to keep sitting there for the foreseeable future. xD

    My problem with being a perfectionist. I don't finish things if I think it will be average 🤣
    Well I try to finish anyway hope you have time to finish them, though sometimes leaving them keeps it nostalgic ❤️

    So. Remember when I said my wrists would get better in a couple months? ...Yeah, that didn't happen.

    The specialists I saw were, in a word, wrong. My wrists (yes, wrists plural) are still messed up 4+ years later. I spent a long time trying to avoid all computers, touchscreens, and writing with pens/pencils to try to give myself the best possible chance of full recovery, but I still haven't recovered and at this point it's unclear whether I will. After several years of forcing myself to avoid doing the things I love the most and dealing with extreme depression, I'm honestly just done with this whole situation. As long as my wrists don't get so bad that I physically can't do stuff anymore, I'm perfectly willing to put up with a bit of pain as long as I can get back to my creative work, playing video games, and just living my life in general. I don't know how often I'll be posting here, but I expect I'll be checking my page & my messages periodically regardless.

    I have no idea if anyone else from four years ago is still active here, but if anyone is, hi, I'm not dead (or at least I'm back from the dead)! xP

    Hi again everyone, I've got a wrist update to give you all.
    I've found a good physical therapy place and have just started going there. They told me that my wrist should be pretty straightforward to treat and hopefully be better in a couple months. I'm really glad that now I know what kind of schedule I'm looking at, even if that means it might be a good two months before I can really start making skins again... But oh well. As long as it does actually get better, I'll take it!

    Hey guys, I've got some news I though I'd better let you all know.

    I've been having some problems with my left wrist for a few months. I've tried a number of things to try to help it get better, but it hasn't. And a few nights ago it started giving me trouble if I was on my computer or phone for too long, which it hadn't before. This means I'm probably going to have to stay off of keyboards for several weeks so it has time to recover. That means I likely won't be able to make skins for a while or do anything else that involves a lot of typing, including social media/text chats or video games. :(

    Fortunately I can still use my right hand, so I can still do some things. :P I'll let you guys know if anything important happens. Meanwhile, I really hope my wrist gets better soon so I can go back to making skins/playing Minecraft/everything else! xP

    So I have a question about my shading for anyone who's still checking my page... :P

    Recently I've been wondering if my shading has gotten a bit too complicated, if it's making my skins look "overshaded" or something. It's kinda hard for me to tell on my own so I thought I'd ask everyone, do you think my skins would be better if I simplified my shading technique a bit? I don't mean like, super simple shading, I just mean making it not as super-detailed.

    Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know I'm still around, even though I haven't posted in AGES. I'm not sure if I'll be posting more frequently or not after this, but I'll try not to go inactive for months on end again. :P

    Also, I'm really sorry I vanished with no warning like that... The 500 subs meetup I had been planning may or may not actually happen, but if it hasn't happened by the time I hit 600 subs, I'll be sure to do something extra special to celebrate! :D
