Hello, I am Cameron Lund. I am applying for the developer position. Here is my application:
Age: 14
Skype: live:cameronlund4
Email: cameronlund4@gmail.comCountry: America
Timezone: UTC-05:00 Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Availability: I am off from school until September. In this time, I am available for the whole week, at least 8 hours a day. Once school picks up again, I will be available for the same times on the weekends, but during the week, I might be limited to around 2 hours max a day.
Examples of my work: I don't have too much publicized work; however, I have around 6 plugins that tie together on my
GitHub (under the factions_plugins repository), and some examples of Lua on my
Pastebin.
Why I feel interested in working with you: I am interested in working with you for experience. I love programming, but I lack the ability to find great places to put my skills to use. A large network with linked servers and an advanced back end where I would constantly have work to do would give me a huge outlet for my ever growing skills. Another reason I'm interested in working with you is that I feel my skills could help make the server an enjoyable place for players. I hate to make things that will never be used, and on such a large server, I would be able to make things that could be enjoyed by many.
What potential you find in the Byte and how you can make it a possibility: I see a lot of potential in The Byte. The staff seems very motivated about the server, and the sheer enthusiasm by the community is expressed by the amount of applications that have already been made. I think the server is able to grow to the point of or beyond the pre-existent networks, and I would love to help make that happen. I would be able to help these possibilities become reality be working with the development team to make unique and exciting plugins for the servers that urge players to come and use them.
Are you familiar with SQL/Proxy Servers/Entity Manipulation: I am familiar with the use of MySQL in Java plugins, which you can see in the GitHub specified below. I have some experience with communicating with TCP servers, but very little. This skill comes from communicating with Minecraft servers to make a Minechat replacement app that works better and is a lot cheaper (Not yet public.) I have no experience with entity manipulation, but I have seen how it's done, and don't think it would be too difficult to pick up.
Are you willing to work collaboratively with other developers: I am willing to work collaboratively with other developers. I have experience with GitHub and Maven, allowing for great possibilities when working with other developers to cumulatively make a successful plugin. Everyone is stronger and weaker in different areas, so I feel working as a team strengthens a project and it's abilities to grow as one person's strength can fill the void of others weaknesses.
