    It would really help if you added at least some details of what people are getting themselves into. I mean, you need builders: to build what? There's a huge difference between (for example) building medieval themed stuff or futuristic stuff.

    Next: what network? What's the theme? What kind of servers? What could make this interesting for me?

    And no: I am not going to PM you or use discord or such. If you're serious about threads such as these then I also expect you to pay attention to them. Not to mention that what I'm asking is most likely also interesting to other players.

    No offense but... with the amount of "We need builders, staff, etc." advertising out there you really should try a bit harder to try and appeal to players. At least tell us what we can expect ;)

    My favorite moment was actually a moment I seriously disliked at first but... even I could understand the fun part of it.

    Context

    I've been playing Minecraft for a long time but I didn't discover it myself: my girlfriend introduced me to it, now... 4 or so years ago (around March 2014). At first it didn't appeal to me at all, didn't even understand what I was supposed to do. But then my gf switched my game into creative mode, showed me the redstone tab and told me how that was "Minecraft electricity". I started to experiment a bit and soon started making a few logical circuits (AND, NAND, XOR), got me hooked for life :)

    So, about that moment...

    Later that evening my gf introduced me to the 'real' Minecraft game and we set out onto a shared world on her laptop in survival mode. We had just started and came across a ravine. That was obviously no problem for me, I knew exactly what to do: I made a running jump, jumped in, pressed space twice and instead of flying across I fell and died. My gf almost lost it with laughter :P

    At the time it happened I was less amused (that didn't last long though!) and we shared quite some good laughs over it :)

    But the full moment....

    That was my first Minecraft player session. My gf was staying over for the weekend, she was playing on her laptop on the couch, I was playing on my regular computer and well... we started around 22:00 and when we suddenly noticed daylight coming in again we figured that we should probably try and get some sleep :) That was really cool too :)

    Yeah, those first moments are always the best I think.

    I didn't watch the entire video because I got plain out bored after a few minutes or so. Either way, of course Herobrine is "real'ish" and I have even better proof than this staged video:

    https://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/setting-up-a-bossbar-in-minecraft-1-13/

    If you check that blog post and scroll down to the 2nd section you'll see the Herobrine Boss. It even has its own bossbar, how real can it get?

    So yeah, it exists but only in 1.13, sorry ;)

    I've set up a (private) LAN server ever since the pre-releases hit and I'm definitely going to play. Of course a lot depends on when my favorite public server will upgrade, but yeah ;)

    I still think that 1.13 is going to be huge, and it definitely has the potential to become one of the best updates over the past years. They even gave the launcher some extra love and fixed several hiccups and issues!

    You're not giving us enough information. For starters: what launcher are you using? Also: you said you downloaded Forge but did you also try to install it? If so: how? And which version exactly? The base 1.8 or 1.8.9 which is the latest of the 1.8 series?

    Well, considering that this is their specific way of doing things then I really think you should take it up with them. After all, apparently you paid for that. Sorry to sound like a grumpy critic but when looking at that website... let's just say I'm not a fan :D

    See, the reason I call this website obscure (I still do) is because their instructions actually contradict the official Forge methodology here and there. With all due respect but wouldn't the Forge project be the defacto source to know best how to set up an environment for mod development?

    Anyway, this isn't helping you....

    My suggestion is honestly to take this up with the people behind the course because they should know the ideas behind all this. For someone who didn't follow this course... yah, see my reaction above :P

    Or, and that is my actual suggestion, skip this whole procedure and follow the Forge documentation instead. As you can see those are instructions also specifically targeted at either Eclipse or IntelliJ so you should be good either way. Following that methodology will also allow others to help you. Because most modders will honestly follow Forge instructions over anything else, especially when the instructions actually seem to diverge a bit from the official guidelines.

    Still hoping this can help somewhat.

    I can only speculate but I think they ran into some seriously bad problems. Are you sure the address is ghasts.com and not pr-mc.com?

    See, when I check server index it tells me they're offline (duh) but also how this should be a network of servers. If I then compare this to the server entry on PMC you see the same thing: offline but also "network of servers" in the description.

    Now: notice how both entries provide a different server address? That's a bit strange.

    So now the reason why I think they ran into issues: the entry on minecraftservers.org. I mean, seriously: "Hacked by Team_Klinux"? That looks plain out bizarre, yet this is exactly what Google pointed me to when searching for Pure Realms (also note that the owner name does match).

    It's pure speculation but my guess is that they got overrun.

    Vanilla 1.12? Why not 1.12.2?

    Also: what launcher do you use? My suggestion would be to change its settings so that it'll open a log window, this will allow you to see exactly what reasons it mentions for the crash.

    So:

    Laucher window

    If you haven't already be sure to open the menu (see green square marker), then open the 3rd tab and enable the option where the arrow points to.

    See: your log snippet doesn't seem to indicate a crash at all, because if your game crashes then it wouldn't cleanly try to save its stuff. It would crash; thus abruptly end. Of course weird things can happen.

    That brings me to another issue: did you mess with your profile? So did you change any special settings?

    Why would you limit them to Eclipse though? There are tons of Java IDE's out there, I strongly suggest that you allow them to pick an IDE of their own. You don't need Eclipse for Java modding you know, you can just as easy do the same with NetBeans, IntelliJ, etc. just to name a few.

    Also: you should know better than to trust download links on random websites. If you want to install Eclipse then go to the Eclipse website, do NOT trust some vague "minecraft modding site"; for all you know they could be trying to feed you malware. And it also shouldn't be too hard to find: just search Google for "eclipse java ide" and you're done.

    Download the latest version, you'll get an installer, and just follow the instructions. But yeah, do make sure that you installed a JDK first. JDK 8 is good, but JDK 10 is the latest.

    PS:

    If you want to reply to someone please use the "reply" icon below their post (bottom right corner). That way you actually reply and they'll also get a notification. Just replying to the thread could risk them not seeing the whole thing.

    (edit)

    May I suggest this link to help you get started? That's the actual and official Forge documentation, and as you can see it doesn't limit themselves to batch files. That's because Java coding is done throughout all platforms and normally you wouldn't limit yourself to one platform alone (I'm a bit skeptical about those instructions when they rely on batchfiles).

    Well, now that SUPERI0N has solved the first problem I'll try to take on the second part :)

    So, if people don't own the boots then we want to run Super's command below. And if they do own the boots those should be replaced by what you have above. The solution to that is simple: tagging.

    First, add a tag to those boots. We'll just use Super's command and what you need to do is add that in front of "display:{":

    /give @p minecraft:leather_boots 1 0 {tag:["specialboots"],display:{color:15066419,Name:Scout}}

    (note: I can't be bothered to use the full command, I'm only trying to help with the "combining", you can work out those details yourself).

    This makes it a lot easier on us to test for those boots later. Otherwise you'd have to muck with color codes and jeb knows what... Now for the trick to combine your scripts / commands.

    Put this into your commandblock:

    /testfor @p {Inventory:[{id:"minecraft:leather_boots",Count:1b,tag:{tag:["specialboots"]}}]}

    Then add a conditional chain command block behind it:

    /scoreboard players tag @p add gotboots

    Now we're reaching a problem because we still need things done if the player doesn't have the items in their inventory. 1.13 fixed this by allowing @p[nbt:{}] but no such luck yet. SO...

    Make a redstone connection from the first command block and be sure to use a repeater set to two or three ticks before the other command block! This will make sure that if the player pushes the button to activate all this they're actually firing up 2 series of commands. But the repeater will make sure that the other series won't get fired before the first.

    In this second setup you do your things... If the player doesn't have the boots then they're also not tagged. And vice versa.

    So use a command block which has this command:

    /give @p[tag=!gotboots] minecraft:leather_boots 1 0 {tag:["specialboots"],display:{color:15066419,Name:Scout}}

    Put a regular chain command block behind it which uses:

    /give @p[tag=gotboots] minecraft:leather_boots 1 0 {tag:["cursedboots"]}

    You could also opt to use 'replaceitem' but do keep in mind that this would allow players to cheat. I mean: all they'd have to do is make sure they're not wearing the boots and you're home free. This is also why I didn't specifically test for the slot.

    Which reminds me: maybe curse of binding could help; that would prevent players from removing these items. And in which case you could fully focus on the "shoe slot", even in my testfor command. In that case you should include: Slot:100b, right after Count. So:

    /testfor @p {Inventory:[{id:"minecraft:leather_boots",Count:1b,Slot:100b,tag:{tag:["specialboots"]}}]}

    ... this would test if the player is actually wearing those 'specialboots'.

    Hope this can help.

    Many people actually use this program called Minecraft where they place the blocks either individually or fill in an area through commands.

    I actually mean that. Because what you're completely ignoring here is that such huge projects also cost people huge amounts of time, and there's a reason for that. Because building in Minecraft is slow and there's no way you'll get around that.

    This is a very interesting system. I still haven't made up my mind yet if you guys used some trickery somewhere or not (note: that's on me, not you!) but I can say that one way or the other that this is an impressive project.

    I definitely like what I'm seeing here. And good thinking too: 'scrape' the source blocks "off the top" and you'll end up with a dry basin, simple as that.

    Just an idea... maybe you should consider putting this up as an individual project. You know: single player world, plenty of references "back home" and basically the starting position of the project. Just a wild idea 8)

    Even so, I saved the video for now and I'll probably try to re-create your setup this weekend with a friend of mine. We'll see where it goes from there.

    You're not giving us anything useful to go on."when you click on it", when you click on what exactly?

    To be honest I don't even understand what your problem actually is.

    (edit) What's in your plugin.yml btw?

    In addition to what Rumbling said below: if you want to kill all mobs except yourself (it can be annoying if you lose your items) then just do: /kill @e[type=!player], that will kill all entities except players (such as yourself).

    Well, in that case I'm tempted to blame one of the plugins you're using. Seems like the most obvious choice here; also because that seems to be the only mutual thing on both servers.

    You might want to try and remove some to see if that makes a difference.

    Simple: put the last two commands in a repeating command block with additional chain command block and you should be all set.

    What Java version are you trying to use? Vanilla or a modloader such as Forge and/or LiteLoader?

    Also note that just updating Java isn't enough. Minecraft uses its own runtime by default, if you want to use a Java version which is already installed on your system then you'll need to edit the profile in the launcher first.
