Consider using paint dot net. Its not a website, but thats what the program is called. its easy to learn, simple, and perfect for 2d pixel artists.

Blockbench (imo) is more for creation of 3d models and stuff.

The shape is good. I assume you use Paint DOT net program, so I'd get your file, add some noise, decrease the color saturation of the noise. This may give you a bit of that varied texture you're lacking, while using your original art. If you need help, dont hesitate to join my Discord server in my profile and ask us! GL

Fabric is good for performance and simple mods. Forge is good for deeper/advanced modding. It's that simple.

I use 4 gb for all of my versions. from vanilla to heavily modded. Minecraft will use what you give it, and 4gb is enough. Giving it too much is just as bad as not enough.
