I don't think the META-INF file is the issue, but likely is a modloader issue. It could have been a human error. Just get a fresh jar file and try again, then if the issue is fixed, have fun!
I'm sorry, but I don't think that's possible. Minecraft servers are not hosted by Mojang themselves, but instead are hosted locally. There's no way of keeping track of every server visited.
I suggest using Optifine over MCPatcher, Optifine fixes the textures AND makes your Minecraft run faster! It gives you more graphics options, a zoom utility too.
