Oh and the game is just beginning. 1st Wave Players get bored and move on. 2nd Wave Players admired 1st Wave Players and become the advocates. The 3rd Wave sees the biggest growth.

And the earlier people get bored and move on.

And new people come on.

I'll tell you when Minecraft is over;

The Day they Make Minecraft: The Movie.

And then...

it'll start again.

My beautiful reply never made it. dang.

I'm 41 years, had a server for over a year and a half. It's the middle of the school year, it's not the latest craze anymore. But the userbase is very stable and continues to grow.

It's moving from the "growth stage" and into the "stable" stage.

Popular culture's "crush" with minecraft is moved but the people who love it, love it. Negative people think they sound smart because they predict something will die. Well entropy - everything has phases and dies - BUT to answer someone from before - do ppl still play games from the 80s?

They do. They're resurrected in flash games, as minigames in other places.

And minecraft version 30 will happen. it might be made by a different company, and I'll be on my deathbed and an old man... but version 30 is the version I'm looking for.

And it's the one where machine generated and regular reality have become one and indistinguatable. But the processes running the computers will not be run by humans.

Rather the complexity of the systems themselves will give them self-sustaining intelligence.
And we'll simply have more room to build stuff.

To live our lives.

To roleplay.

Which is all any of us do.

We just forgot we were still roleplaying while we got jobs, handled money, etc.

But we're just little 4 yr olds stuck in big ppls bodies generaiton after generation.

There's no grownups. Just disgruntled children who hate what gravity does to their bodies..

I'll be happy to take a look at the petition.

I'm Ken. I have a reoccuring announcement on my server that says "Students, ask your teachers to put minecraft in the classroom! Teachers! Put minecraft in your classroom!" and it shows probably a few dozen times a day, along with other announcements.

Well, I know of, for a fact, at least 30 schools in the US and Australia who NOW have minecraft in their schools because of a little announcement on my server.

So, let me tell you - IT WORKS.

Get minecraft in the classroom.

And... omg - i can't believe that several THOUSAND new people have come in. and keep coming back! I'm like o-o about the whole thing. I mean it's just a test server but perfectly working. I do get a lot of console spam though - you can see a video of it here:

Wow - I went through the list of visitors that were on the temp server and it was 1687! I haven't counted the number of folks who visited my main server yet, but I'm pretty impressed so far. Awesomness.

Yes. I'm talking to myself - but I forgot to mention:

This is known as a rare hybrid server.

I did't know it was rare before i set it up. I made the server before I ever even PLAYED minecraft 'cause my nephew wanted it and some friends on Google+ said, "Ken Ken Ken, you should run a minecraft server!". Well, $27 x 2 = $54 later and 2 months later, here I am. Running a server for two months.

Breaking up fights, helping friends become friends again, adventuring, building, taking videos and pictures. Absolutely amazing. Made literally hundreds of new friends. People like to know the server guy.

And.. well that's about it. I may talk about myself and my server some more here. A good a place as any. Does anybody care? Perhaps not... but there's a lot of bedrooms out there with a desk and a chair and a minecraft player inbetween it, just looking for a little light at the end of the enchanted diamond sword.
