Okay, I am a developer myself and I have worked with and for many hubs and for regular servers as you said in the brief description, you and your friends are not experienced and are beginners. So why make a hub you should never start with something as big as a hub when your beginning something. You don't even know how to work with plugins i'm guessing and your trying to start a hub already.
My point is you should learn to setup plugins and get familiar with it then start a server and grow a player base next to that you can make a hub.
Note: Not all servers, hubs, dreams come true...
