192.168.x.x is a local IP. Nobody outside of your network can connect to it, because they have their own 192.168.x.x. You need to either find out your real IP address given to you by your host (via Woody's link) and check it every now and then to make sure it hasn't changed, or get a real host that has a dedicated IP.

F34R3DFREE PHPBB! Linux does not have that

Everyone has that. phpBB is free software (and honestly not even the best free forum software IMO).

Can you configure Windows to not have a GUI that only rookies need to use taking up valuable resources like RAM and CPU time?

I use Windows all the time as well, and have only had problems that were directly my fault. However, I wouldn't trust it to run a high-performance server.

With only 5 people the default 1GB should be fine. I've got a dinky little laptop with 1GB RAM allocated to Minecraft for my bro and me and we're doing perfectly fine memory-wise.

Are you putting "example.com" or just "example.com"? (hint: it should be the second one)

Be glad I've implemented my own authentication server, then keep playing with the other people using it. Once I've gotten other people to use it, of course.

I keep getting 504s on avatars here in the forums. It's really quite random on which ones though, for example mine 504s for me, but I have no idea if it does for others. Makes me sad 'cause I <3 my avvy.

Okay so given that at least one mod looked at the topic and didn't lock it I figure I might as well ask away.

As I mentioned above, I'm in the process of developing a system similar to Mineshafter. How similar? I have no clue, as I haven't actually used it. But the goal of my system for end users is to be as simple as possible to use and update. For server managers you get the benefits of authentication (and the white/blacklists that go with it). Unlike Mineshafter, it does not rely in any way on Mojang's authentication system. This is mostly intended for the kind of people that currently use Offline servers.

Right now, I'm at the point where I need two things:
    1) People willing to test
    2) A server for them to test on

I've got me a basic setup locally, so I know it at least somewhat works, but I need people to try and think outside the box and find the little bugs I might not notice. Alas, I'm poor and have spent all my spare money on the core of the whole system, and can't afford any more hosting yet. Maybe someday, but not today. It doesn't need to be the greatest system, just enough to test the 16-32 people I want in the closed beta. At most. And most likely not at the same time.

I don't wanna seem spammy so I'm not going to direct link the site. For those that are interested send me a PM so I can point you to it. If enough people do or I get complaints that it's like suspicious or something I'll probably end up linking it here anyway.

However, if you have questions, go ahead and ask them here!

I tried, it lists me as having no messages. When I click on the link it just redirects me to the "lastest" PMs folder which is empty.

I also just got a warning. I'm pretty sure I know what for, but have no way to see it to make sure. Clicking the link in the email shows nothing, and I can't find it anywhere.

Sorry, I don't know the policy on bumping topics here, and I don't like pestering people, but I'd really like an answer to one of my questions.

The thing I like most about my farm is how stupid simple it is to make. It's stackable, so you can build it as you get the resources for it, or you can mass-produce the floors all at once with little brainpower put in to it. I need to go in and count out the resources it uses, but I've been optimizing it a little.

I'm in the process of making the "How To" on building it.

I don't know if you're still in need of this, but there are a few options:

    1) A Wine derivative. The one I've used and had some success with is DarWine. Downside is that it's not a perfect copy, and some programs need to be run in a perfect Windows environment.
    2) An Emulator. I <3 Bochs, but it's slow. Other options are VirtualBox and VMWare (those might be the same thing. I don't use them much so IDK). Downside is it still requires a copy of Windows.
    3) BootCamp. Run Windows on the Mac. OSX has a way to set up BootCamp Safely IIRC, just look it up on Apple's site. Same downside as 2.
    4) Use a real PC. Bonus: It's cheaper for the same specs if you build it yourself, and as long as you have the color and shape matching skills of a third grader, and can follow basic directions, you can do it.

The person that said to use Java needs a swift kick in the balls.

    Thanks for the welcome guys!

As far as minecrafty things I like to take useful things and make them absurdly overkill. For example, my wheat farm tower that brings in some 3500 wheat per activation, in an 11x11x240ish space. I still need to perfect the design, my prototype switches up plans like 3 or 4 times throughout the tower, but the basic layout is sound.

My bro and I are currently using our absurd mob farm to collect enough gunpowder to make some 87k TNT to blow up a mountain. We've got like 4 of 24 chests full. We're doing it on a mostly-legit (we used a sand generator for the crapton of sand) SMP local server.
