Why you want to join us:
To be completely honest, I never intended to be applying to a server today. I have a satisfied job as a server software developer and project overseer of Elementals.MC. But I glimpsed it in the list and thought "why the hell not". So I had a read into your server and it sounds like an amazing role, since from the beginning I've wanted somewhere friendly to discuss my projects and collaborate on builds.
Servers you have played on:
The Canadian Sandbox (WoM) [Chief Operator]
The Forgotten Worlds (WoM) [Co-Owner]
Elementals.MC (Beta 1.7 - Release 1.6) [Developer]
xCraft [initially BlueCraft] (Beta 1.6 - Release 1.2) [Trusted Donator]
ForgottenPvP (Beta 1.8 - Release 1.0) [Owner]
Creative/Survival:
Creative when on my desktop and survival on my laptop because on Creative, I keep slamming my finger onto the trackpad too hard when I try to look around and end up breaking about 5 blocks each time because of the wonderful but annoying touch-click feature.
What you like to build:
Well, I like building and playing on map remakes from popular games (Quake, Halo, UT), but architecturally, I have a love for diagonal pillars. I have an eye for builds and can identify key requirements, but I can't exactly build solo megastructures as I don't have the time or the patience.
Favourite plugin:
Stargate, simple multi-destination portals and such.
Favourite command:
/jump, long range transport in seconds. Also lets me sneak up on people.
Previous Experience:
Previous staff experience would mostly focus on my time building and managing Elementals.MC, but I also helped out on a few Minecraft classic servers as well as hosting my own 1.0 server.
Years Played MC:
Since ~Late Alpha, from memory. So that's at least 2 I guess.
Time you can devote to the server PER DAY:
A couple of hours at least, although I need time to study and oversee my own server.
Special Skills:
I have programming and story-writing experience and am currently doing both for a visual novel I'm making to go with my Minecraft server's lore.
All-Time Favourite Music Genre:
Drum 'n' Bass, Indie Rock, J-Pop
Handicaps/Hangups:
I live in the UK so I'll probably be online at stupid inconvenient times. As for personal problems, I'm OCD/asymmetriphobic but it's fairly mild. I'm also a bit impatient when it comes to giving tech support or the like.
Anything Else You'd Like to Make Known:
I like having team discussions and votes since it makes staff groups feel more like communities.
I'm agnostic, but I have no religious hatred or anything.
I'm a full time university student, and things like MC may get put aside if I need to complete some intense work.
I run an independent game development group called SOUL, which branches over our Minecraft server and a couple of WIP or "on hold" indie games.
EDIT: Okay... I was quite wooden and didn't explain more than Minecraft there. I'll go for a quick burst of detail for that final question.
I think one of my most defining traits is my love for good stories, whether through books, films, animations. Things like FiM, MLaaTR, PPG, Doctor Who, The IT Crowd, etc. (I could probably go on a load more...) are IMO some of the most entertaining and intriguing stories of this generation. I like anime too (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rozen Maiden, Tenchi Muyo!).
Musically, I've got into a mix of Drum 'n' Bass (Pendulum and random others on YouTube), Indie (July Crisis, a Swedish indie rock band), and Alt. Rock (Muse, the greatest and most perfect band where you seriously can't just give it one genre).
As for the original answers, I think they were written a bit stiffly as if I was applying for a job rather than a Minecraft community. I hope all this comes across in some understandable way to you as this is probably coming across as if I'm some seriously split personality bloke. If this is unreadable, please, just contact me on Skype and we can have a chat when I have a reasonably logical mindset.
Thanks,
Nova
