They are inspired by mascavo quartzite natural stone. They are not really smooth in my opinion. I would say the stone, netherrack and dirt are prime examples of smooth textures. And yeah, it does not look like nether bricks, but that does not have to be the case. I want to make it a modern texture pack, so some textures will look different from the vanilla pack.
I may keep them at a somewhat lower saturation - I don't want to make it too flashy. And you mean the polished stones? I have not made stone brick textures yet :p
I get what you mean with the ores. I like bacon though :p
Thanks a lot! And I Agree on the nether bricks. I want to add modern touches to the pack though, and these blocks have stair variants, while many others don't. I may change them later though!
Thanks! I wanted to go for a somewhat smoother pack, but I agree that some of the textures are maybe a bit too smooth. I will see if I can add some more noise in some of them! I also agree on the ores. I may redo those later on. I'm not sure if I want to make them vibrant, because I want to try to make them somewhat realistic. I will probably have a second look at them at some point though! And thanks! The planks were for another project, and I basically got my motivation to work on the entire pack from creating them!
Seems a bit too noisy to me. I tend to use 4 materials at most for paths, unless the paths are grey. There are simply too many grey blocks that have similar shades :p
I don't understand the algorithms at all. I have had submissions that surpassed day-old submissions within hours, but they remained lower on the list. After some days they weren't even within the first five pages anymore. I don't really care too much, but it does seem strange...
I'm pretty glad with it. I used to be unable to even log in to the forums because of some glitch, and I never felt the urge to figure out what it was. Now it just works, which is great. The layout is also very inviting in my opinion. It does look like a commenting system instead of a discussion, but that makes for an interesting dynamic I guess.
I think it would still be too prone to problematic situations such as scamming and breaking the EULA. My experience on forums where advertising was allowed is mostly negative. I think money-driven content creators can ruin communities. The pride of this website seems to be that people just like to show and share their creations, which is exactly what I think makes it so successful. It's not just about the potential scams, it's also about the entire image of the site and community.
