The YouTube algorithm is flat out horrible. It has been proven time and time again that it panders mostly to creators who push out a large number of low quality videos rather than a smaller number of high quality videos, and the fact that creators have to give up quality in order to be recognized is a terrible system, but YouTube will never do anything to fix this. Quantity over Quality systems are never good when it comes to user generated content, as it just encourages people like steveee to pull stunts like this to get popular off of. If the algorithm was improved this situation would never have happened because people like steveee wouldn't have any reason to make this type of content. also, just to clarify a few things as this situation has been ongoing for the longest time.
stevee did not 'cheat' the algorithm persay, more of exploited it, which i used to respect their hustle, but it came to a point where they were putting out inane content, then the point where they had to steal to keep their sad dying channel alive.
in the past, only one in every 50 videos were stolen but of late, it has become 80% stolen content, which is truly deplorable.
but all actions stevee has taken (apart from stealing of course) is completely legal, and although many popular youtubers were stolen from as well, case in point command geek and mcmakistein, they are unwilling to take much legal action to terminate stevee's channel as there are tons of legal paperwork to be done and they do not want to involve their fanbase in larger drama. so, as dirty as the situation is, please refrain from dragging larger content creators into this, raising awareness and appealing to the larger audience is the play
