I wouldn't say anyone is bad at doing anything. The mistakes and failures are pieces of data for future success. That's what my english l.a. teacher told me at the beginning of this school year.
I suggest, if available, take art class as your extra curriculum. You'll learn how to do stuff like proper shading, negative space, etc. There might be tutorials on the internet as well. You could use that.
