I have noticed a few knock offs floating around.

I purposefully choose to make skins I haven't seen on the site.
I suspect some people download, modify the textures/shading enough that you can't cry foul and repost.

I guess there's nothing that can be done about that, but it still kinda sucks.
If the repost is an improvement, then great, but if it's obviously inferior and you're just doing it to get views/downloads/whatever, that sucks, but at least give credit to the original creator in that case.
I understand that it's prolly almost impossible to really stamp out skin plagiarism but kudos to the vigilantes who try.
Honour is something sorely lacking these days and it's good to see there are people who are actually willing to protect other peoples work.

I have a method of " invisibly signing" my skins which is not readily apparent to anyone looking at the texture... So if it comes to it, I can always identify a skin which was originally mine.

Generally I'll flag the first dodgy submission then I'll mention in the report that the user has other illegal submissions and maybe throw in the links.

tbh the odds are good that if they have one ripped off submission, the rest of their stuff is probably dodgy too.

In my experience the mods do a pretty good job blitzing repeat offenders which in turn encourages me to keep vigilant and keep reporting.

If the submitted content is breaking the rules it is your duty as a responsible member of the PMC community to flag them.

    That's how I see it.

My new hobby is running searches on my own skins and finding ripped versions (never thought of it before).

Found two so far, both flagged with extreme prejudice.

I like it because all the buttons are big and squishy and cartoony, the interface is bright and friendly and makes me feel I'm in my happy place... and you get kewl real time (almost) sig cards that make you look pimp when you are hanging around in lesser sites.

Also it's very simple and intuitive to submit material.

    It's a good site.

Last night I had a dream I met Carl Sagan...

lol man I love all these crazy diamond spawning theories.

My favorite is if you see lava and there is coal next to it, dig up all the coal and a couple of blocks behind it 90% of the time you'll find diamonds.

I read it on some forum (could have been this one) and by sheer coincidence it actually happened to me a couple of days later.

Now whenever I see coal near lava I usually tear the entire chunk apart... but oddly enough it's never happened again. :/

In the future, I would like to see a button, or a type of form, that allows a player to submit evidence of players. As a "creative community fansite," the atmosphere of PlanetMinecraft can be completely ruined by the common troll, or just plain asshole.
    .

You mean like the button I just used to report you for swearing?

    JOKING!

No seriously, it's the little triangle with the exclamation mark to the left of the "quote" button on the top right of the post.

    ...and mind your language.

    I vote Renaissance Era/Masquerade.

All I ever do is superheroes and I think it'll be a challenge to do something different for my first ever contest entry.

    Not for a loooong time.

    Here's why.
A big part of Minecraft is it's online community, mod builders, texture pack artists etc.
That plus all the multiplayer servers make Minecraft very similar in community structure to an mmo.

...and as we know a good mmo can last for a very long time.
Minecraft has over 5 milion copies sold legit and gawd knows how many playing cracked.
You can literally sit and watch the counter go up on MC dot Net as new copies get purchased.

As long as that counter continues to move Minecraft will be around.

    All the achievements have reset.

So far nothing seems messed up in the world.

    Ok, noob question time.

Can anyone confirm foe me (who is utterly ignorant about such things) that the new world system Anvil will convert our 1.1 worlds or whatever and basically, we won't have to make new worlds for this update?

I've had conflicting answers about this, I'm not updating until I know either way.

Edit: Ok, I updated because I'm a big impatient child... and underneath my world name it says "must be converted".

    Scared to go any further...

    I can't wait for this.
The booster tracks are what I'm looking forward to the most.

I've already begun to tear down my old booster stations in preperation for a massive redesign of my rail network.

    What's confirmed?
Weather (including features like pigs turning into pigmen, hostile mobs during storms etc)), achievments, stats, booster & break tracks... anything else?
