Forge 1.8 doen't work for me so I use vanilla shaders with optifine if thats what you mean ShadowMancer. Forge is not bad also if it works for you. I never heard of anyone crashing and losing all there data with forge but I still Keep a back up of all my worlds.
To run shaders you must have alteast a NVIDIA or AMD GPU.
