the only reason people actually like bedrock is cause its easier to play with your mates. Anything you want in java that bedrock has you can achieve with mods - want movable chests? i just did 3 mins of research [

vanillatweaks.net/] ive been playing a zombie virus mod recently based on last of us. So basically java has good redstone, less glitches and mod capabilities which allow you to expand the game infinitely or simply make the base game play smoother.
I've only recently, like last week recently, moved over fully to java. The only reason i even still play bedrock is because a lot of my friends have it. so, yeah bedrocks kinda janky and slow and with them effectively removing mod capabilites, id expect a hell of a lot of people to join java
