Ok, thanks Y'all for the answers!
Just so you know and can try this yourself, the Map is a small Island with mountains around the edge I made in WorldPainter,
http://www.worldpainter.net/, And rendered in a program called Chunky,
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/63913-chunky-minecraft-mapping-and-rendering-tool/, with an SSP of 1500, default brightness, emitters off, a custom Skymap (Which I found on Imgur - Just Google 'Chunky Skymaps') and DokuCraft Light Texture pack for 1.6.2. I also used Gimp to edit the images.
The first image is how it comes out once rendered to the specified settings.
The second image is the first image but with a higher saturation and colour contrast.
The third image is with a camera flare added (Rather noticeable), and I was unsure about it as an image as Eirail said, "however it makes it harder to see the build, if you can somehow manage to combine the sun effect with a dimmer light", which I totally agree with.
If you want you can try some of this stuff out! Although bear in Mind that Chunky may take some time to render (For this image it took 9 hours...), so be patient and you can get some really good results.
