There is a fungus that when in an ant it takes over the body and the ant is still 'Living'
But he is being controlled by the fungi. The ant (With the fungi) would then be controlled by the fungi, and it would take the ant to its hill and the entire clan of ants would be infected. AID's was a disease that only apes had, now humans have it, same with other ones, so yes it is possible for a 'Zombie' apocalypse is possible, IF that or a similar fungi gets to humans, like in "The Last of Us"

This however is highly unlikely to happen, BUT under the correct circumstances it could possibly happen.
