Alright here's my honest opinion on the two, what I like and hate about them.
TCG- Both are alright, I LOVED Yu-Gi-Oh when I was younger, and still have all my cards, I never understood the pokemon trading card game. They both have websites now where you can play for (almost) free. Pokemon seems a bit more collectible, but if you have all 5 pieces of Exodia, you were pretty much the S***!
Video Games- Pokemon wins by a landslide, Yu-Gi-Oh's games aren't very good (at all).
"Anime"- I like both, I liked Yu-Gi-Oh's slightly more when I was younger, just because it looked cool. However now as I get older, I like pokemon more. I think both are slowly going downhill, however pokemon does have the new Origins anime coming out! The older the cartoons were, the better. Gx and the origional were f'ing awesome, and Kanto-Hoenn were still pretty good.
Merch- Who the hell doesn't want a duel disk! Now who the hell wants these plushies! 'Nuff said.
Movies- Nope. Nope Nope Nope. Pokemon 2000 and Mew vs Mewtwo, only good ones.
Either way, up until recently I though they were both amazing, but pokemon is realy winning now, because Yu-Gi-Oh is going away, just like our childhood!
Don't worry about it, a lot of people like different things, I switched preferances almost periodically!
