If that doesn't work, it might be problem whether with your driver or graphic card. Say what card do you use. That means that explorer.exe crashes, causing the bar and icons to go away. You may fix that by doing: Ctrl+Alt+Delete - Task Manager - New task - explorer.exe(it won't fix it for good, just give the icons and bar back)
And everything should be back working.

Thanks, the quick fix worked. My graphics care is NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. Driver is nvd3dum.dll version 8.15.11.8655.

Also, I noticed that the problem only occurs when I press F11 (fullscreen). What I did was right click the taskbar and then properties, then auto-hide the taskbar and then ok. Then whenever I play Minecraft, I maximize the window instead of making it fullscreen. Hope this helps anyone else who has this problem.

I have installed mods before, and also did try removing entire .minecraft folder and force updating. The game itself works, it's just that I only see my wallpaper after CLOSING Minecraft.

    Anybody else with this problem?

Make a website for your server if you don't have one already.
And be nice to your players.

Copy the files from the folder with the mod into your minecraft.jar.

You said the laptop's new, and it only has 2 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It sounds like you have a netbook, not a laptop. Unfortunately, netbooks are bad for 3D gaming.

If you still wanted to play Minecraft on it, it is possible, but will be laggy and you won't be able to crank up the render distance. If the lag makes it impossible to play on, use Optifine.

Get a copy of Windows Vista if you've got a few spare bucks. Ubuntu's free and doesn't get viruses, but will be tricky to set up Minecraft on it.

It's actually really easy to make a texture pack yourself.

Just extract some files from minecraft..jar. Open up the pictures and from there you can change them to anything you'd like. There's also lots of tutorials online, they will tell you what files you need to extract.

You can also change a few things from an existing texture pack. Download it, extract all the files and find the picture of what you want to change. Then open it up in Paint and change it to what you want, or copy and paste the default textures from your minecraft.jar.

    Yeah, I agree with upanddown_Back_up.

You're lying and made the whole thing up.
Or if that really did happen, it would mean someone got into your account. Change your password immediately if that's the case.

    Hi xXEPICxTTOWN24Xx,

Yes, it is possible for you to make a server, you just need to learn how.

I never heard of a service provider called "Verizion", so I'm going to assume you're talking about "Verizon". In their terms of service, they do mention that if you host a server, you are violating their terms of service.

Click "Spoiler" to see what I found. (In no way am I a lawyer, please correct me if any of the information is incorrect)

    Click to reveal
From Verizon Online's terms of service, available at
    http://www.verizon.net/policies/vzcom/tos_popup.asp

    4. AUTHORIZED USER, ACCOUNT USE, AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

    3. Restrictions on Use.

...[Trimmed]... You also may not exceed the bandwidth usage limitations that Verizon may establish from time to time for the Service, or use the Service to host any type of server. Violation of this section may result in bandwidth restrictions on your Service or suspension or termination of your Service.

So according to that section of Verizon Online's terms of service, if you host a server, they can actually limit how much "traffic" you can send/receive and even stop your Internet connection altogether!

If you want to host a server anyway, you could. But Verizon Online will have the right to take action and stop your server.

Do you still want to make a new Bukkit server? If so, do you need any more help?

I can help you, please first answer these questions.

    1. What you mean by "no plugins installed, all just basic"?
    2. Are you using the vanilla Minecraft server downloaded from minecraft.net or Bukkit?
    3. What happens when you build?
    4. Do the blocks disappear right after you build them?
    5. Do you get an error message saying you're not allowed to build here?
    6. Do you have the Essentials plugin installed? If so, EssentialsProtect.jar's default configuration will not allow non-op players to build near the spawn.

You said you're "OP and admin." It sounds like you have a permissions system installed. Make sure the permissions system is configured correctly to allow players with op or admin ranks to build.

I'm no expert, but I think something's outdated.

Try downloading Essentials again, this time make sure you're downloading it for 1.3. and not 1.2.
If that doesn't fix the problem, maybe you should try updating Java.

Do any other 1.3 plugins work?

Tristikinsthe leveling plugin (I don't know the name) that adds unarmed, axe skills, mining, ect.

The plugin that gives you those skills is called mcMMO.
It says ** YOU READY YOUR [object] ** when you right click with your hand, a weapon or tool.

Unfortunately, "low level members" can't upload mods. You'll need to either get a higher level, or contact the site owner or something
    .
Once you're at a high enough level:
    1. Click the MODS section.
    2. Under the large image, click the blue UPLOAD MOD button.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

On step 3, if it tells you that uploading mods are disabled for you, it's because your level is still too low.
