I got nine texture packs and got them all converted in under an hour. It was no big effort, just ran it through the unstitcher they provided, renamed some files and bam - done. I personally prefer this way of handling textures. It's easier for me to save new files and see what is done and what isn't done. I don't have to rush new textures whenever there's an update because I have a gaping hole in my terrain.png, I can take my time and let the default texture stand-in until I get something pretty done. I don't have to worry about lining up every stinking item on the stinking item file and hoping I got it within that invisible 64 pixel bounding box. And - best of all - no more "Why is there fire in the grass?" comments on my texture packs. It's beautiful. I love it and am so glad they made this change.
