i think know what your problem is. you may hard disk corruption and should contact your laptops manufacturer (e.g Acer, Dell etc) and ask them if your warranty is valid, if so you'll receive a free Hard Drive replacement, if not you will have to pay.
only bad thing is you'll loose all of your stuff unless you move it all onto a potable HD

personally i think there should be a type of modern weapon like pistol or something but it should be rather hard to get the materials for it.
