I didn't say to look in the mob folder. I said to decompile all the java files in the jar, read the actual .class files. If you understand java at all, you will find that there is no coding for herobrine in any of the decompiled minecraft files.
It's impossible for a multiplayer player to connect to someone elses single-player world because it's not being hosted on a server. That means there's nothing to connect to. Your illogical logic is illogical.

There is no way for a multiplayer person to connect to some random persons single-player save files because, #1:Not portforwarded #2: The worlds aren't even on a server that he can connect to. #3: Even if it could somehow work, it would crash the game. Anyways, the guys who made the Herobrine account in the first place stated on their blog that it's never used any more anyways. Also, I heard somewhere that Notch deleted the account too.
Find your Minecraft jar. Decompile it. See there is no coding anywhere for Herobrine. Conclusion: Herobrine is only attainable through mods or multiplayer plugins. The end. Kthxbai.
Bukkit is really the only server mod out there. And why are you sick of bukkit? You can change it to do almost anything you want it to! *EDIT:THERE IS A CLIENT+SERVER MOD CALLED SPOUTCRAFT AND ITS AMAZING AND YOU CAN ADD BLOCKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT...but it only works on bukkit servers with the spoutcraft plugin.

I love the release. The only thing I don't like is that the game actually has somewhat of an end now... I don't want minecraft to have an end. I personally like the new sounds, I don't get why everyone is complaining about them.
