As someone who's been playing for a long time, I really liked hearing those stories of herobrine showing up and griefing singleplayer worlds. When I was a kid I was afraid whenever I saw what looked like white eyes but were probably just loading chunks now that I look back. He is very fake, but I really liked the stories surrounding him, and the infamy he gained in the community.
