NOTES for activating mob skins:

If there is a .zip file_________________________________________________________________________________________
I.) download .zip file
II.) open a minecraft world
III.) options > resource packs > open pack folder
IV.) paste .zip into resourcepacks folder
V.) activate it in minecraft (open a world > options > resource packs)

If there is a .png___________________________________________________________________________________________
what you will have to do: (might look scary but it is easier than it looks :D)
1. create folder path
2. name the .png exactly like the entity in minecraft!!!
3. create icon
4. create .mcmeta file
5. make them (mcmeta file + pack.png + folders) into a .zip file
6. put .zip into minecraft's "resourcepacks" folder

1. create path
On your desktop create a folder named "assets"
Inside create other folders like this:
(u opened assets)/minecraft/textures/entity/(name the last folder as the name of the entity you wanna replace)
[[at the end you gonna have each folder inside the other]]
WARNING: name the last folder EXACTLY like the entity you wanna replace!! (exp.: fox or snow_fox)

2. name the .png exactly like the entity in minecraft
Place the downloaded .png inside the last folder (the folder w the name of the entity)
WARNING: name it EXACTLY like the one you wanna replace!! (exp.: fox.png or snow_fox.png)

3. create icon
Exit the folders
On your desktop create a copy of the same downloaded .png
Name it pack.png
This will be the icon picture for the mob skin (the one you are gonna see in minecraft)

4. create .mcmeta file
On your desktop > right click > create a text (.txt) file
For 26.1.2. copy the code below! (you can find the resource pack codes for each minecraft version on the internet)
After copied and pasted - replace "mypack" with the name of the entity (exp.: "mydogpack")
Exit the text file
WARNING: do not forget to change the file extension (the ".txt") into a .mcmeta file
[[if you already do not see them --- enable extensions in a folder under the
"view" tab and check the box for file name extensions]]
All you have to do is > right click the text file > rename the text file "pack.mcmeta"
(do not give a sh!t 'bout the popping up notification, it is gonna work)

code for 26.1.2.:
HIT 2 SPACE BARS MANUALLY BEFORE THE "}" ONLY UNDER "pack_format: 84"
REPLACE "mypack" WITH THE NAME OF THE MOBSKIN (exp.: "mydogpack" or "myfoxpack")

{
"pack": {
"description": "mypack",
"pack_format": 84
}
}

You're doing good, just two more steps:
5. make them into a .zip file

assets (folders)
pack.png
pack.mcmeta

Select these 3 and make them into a .zip file
(on win10 select these 3 --- right click --- send --- zip folder)
do not rename the .zip -- just push enter (it is gonna name it "assets.zip" automatically)

6. put .zip into minecraft's "resourcepacks" folder
Open minecraft -- open a world > options > resource packs > open pack folder
Place your assets.zip into the folder
Go back to minecraft and activate the resource pack
