Hello world, Mitchellbrine here! Today, I bring you AnvilModLoader.
Originally part of my failure of a base API mod, ForgeAnvil, AnvilModLoader (or AML) was meant to load dependencies and had the ability to create very simple modpacks. Now, I've separated it from ForgeAnvil to make it its own mod altogether. It can be used to make more complicated modpacks now, including CCC and NEI.
Q: What makes this mod different than other mod launchers and other things?
A: AML allows for easy modpack distribution. It saves tons of space. I made a 10 mod modpack test which turned a regularly 11 megabytes pack into a 12 kilobyte pack. That saves about 10.988 megabytes (or 10,988 kilobytes).
Q: How is the pack so small in size?
A: AML is a very lightweight mod. And it does not require you load in tens of megabytes of .jar files. The way it loads mods is through databases, created using .txt files, which are small, compared to their .jar counterparts. This allows for small packs which are easier to download and distribute.
Q: Do AML support adf.ly links?
A: Unfortunately, no. At least, not at the moment. Adf.ly links do not lead to a direct download of the mod, so AML cannot retrieve the file. Although, in order to get to some direct downloads, you will have to go through adf.ly to get to them. (I will hope to fix this issue later)
Q: How do you share your AML modpack with others?
A: It's as simple as bundling the AnvilModLoader/config folder and a mods folder containing only AML, like you'd normally do.
Q: Help! My game crashes on first startup and it has to do with "coremods". Y UR MOD NO WORK?!
A: This is a crash due to some mods injecting core mods before hand. CCC and NEI actually do function correctly using AML, but some mods like Aroma1997Core do not. In this case, you have 2 options: 1. Include those core mods in your zipped mods folder. AML does not delete any mod it detects has a coremod inside of it. 2. You can deal with the first time crash and be happy the next time!

Required Minecraft Forge Versions:
This isn't really a big deal, I assume it'll work with earlier versions, but versions lower than these won't be supported.
1.8: Requires Minecraft Forge 1281 or later!
1.7.10: Requires Minecraft Forge 1230 or later!
1.8: Requires Minecraft Forge 1281 or later!
1.7.10: Requires Minecraft Forge 1230 or later!
How to use AML:
I've created a nice, in-depth tutorial at the wiki, but I can explain the basics in a paragraph or two (a TL;DR of the wiki).
Once you run AML once, you can go to the AnvilModLoader/config folder in your MC directory and create a .txt file named what you want the mod database to be named. Inside that file include "<insert version name>: <direct file URL>" You can include a * symbol in front of the line to promote it to the version to use, otherwise it'll use the first version. You can also use the + symbol in front to load the config.

Modpack Info:
You can't use it in your pack. Jk! Use it whenever you want! That's the point of the mod anyway!

Never mind, you need to find ForgeAnvil to do it. You need to reroute you're download to there.
