player100: Aw, look at that little creature!
player550: Look, there are more of them!
player100: Wait, why are they all coming towards me?
player550: OH NO, THEY'RE ATTACKING ME!
player100: OH NO, ME TOO!

This is the ear slimes mod for Minecraft 1.5.1. This mod uses Forge and is installed like any other Forge mod. It adds ear slimes to the game, a small creature that chirps like a bird, attacks you, and comes in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. They have the same amount of health as a player, and the same attack power as a zombie or spider. As demonstrated above, they can be dangerous in large numbers, partially because it is hard to hit their tiny hitbox. They drop slimeballs and dyes corresponding with their color (blue ones drop lapis lazuli).
THIS MOD WILL BE REVIVED WHEN FORGE FOR MINECRAFT 1.7 IS RELEASED!
As of April 28, 2013, this mod is multiplayer - compatible. One of the most annoying things to a modder: If you ask a Minecraft server to do ANYTHING that it doesn't have to do, it crashes instantly. It hadn't occurred to me that this meant it had to NOT initialize the sounds. (Don't worry, the client still has them!)
If you find the sounds annoying, they're fairly easy to replace. If you want them to make an existing mob's sounds, then go into your minecraft folder, go into resources, sound3, mobs, zombie, and copy the ogg files. Now go into your ear slimes zip, go into mob, sounds, earSlime, and paste the files you just copied, overriding some files. Now rename the ones you copied to replace all of the original ogg files. NOTE: they must have the exact same name as the ones being replaced! Also, if any of them are missing, Minecraft will likely just not load any of them.
If you want your own sounds, or sounds that aren't ogg files, that's simple too. record or import them in audacity. Export them as ogg files. Now go into your ear slimes zip, go into mob, sounds, earSlime, and replace the existing ogg files with your own ogg files. NOTE: they must have the exact same name as the ones being replaced! Also, if any of them are missing, Minecraft will likely just not load any of them

I can't make this mod work with Minecraft 1.5.2. It doesn't work when I try to run Minecraft with it, but it works when I run it in Eclipse (the open-source Java development environment). I don't know why this is; my MCP (Minecraft Coder Pack) is updated, and it really doesn't make sense. I'm going to ask for help on the Forge forums, but it could be a long time before this mod works with the latest version of Minecraft.
