The Leftover Bones Mod makes it so that when you eat chicken, raw or cooked, you can get leftover bones. Each chicken yields 0-3 bones when eaten. Idea by tonyelement from his Minedeas entry. This mod does not require modloader, forge, or anything else.

Cool this should be in minecraft or whenever you kill something you get bones from it.

you should implement this when you eat/kill something you get different bones ex.pig bones cow bones etc.. and the bigger the animal the more bonemeal you could get from the bone ex. cows bones= 3 bone meal pig bones= 2 bonemeal chickenbones = 1 etc..etc... (i would but you kinda already started so yea)

Would you like to do this? I would be willing to give you the code for this mod if you were interested in adding this stuff, it seem like a very interesting idea but I am already quite busy myself.
