Rose was a flower, which was in the game until it was replaced by poppy in version 1.7.2. This simple mod adds it back! It can naturally spawn in your world, it can be planted into flower pot and you can make dye from it too!

If I remember right, the rose was replaced by the poppy pretty much by changing the texture. It would probably be simpler to undo this with a simple resource pack that overrides the poppy texture. Simpler, uses less dependencies, and works across Minecraft versions.
