This is a Minecraft Forge mod that adds a new and extremely rare mineral to world generation in all 3 default dimensions. Hold on! This isn't just another boring mineral mod! This mineral is capable of crafting far better items than diamond such as a pickaxe that can mine 9 blocks at once and an armour set that, with all the pieces, will make you practically invincible. Sound game-breaking? Not really, Spectrite is really hard to come by so it would usually take a very long time to acquire enough to craft items with it, unless of course you decide to make it more common in the configuration. This mod, aside from providing the (hard-to-reach) means of making you extremely overpowered, fits right into Vanilla gameplay, so I can recommend using it no matter what mods you use. To be honest, I (the developer) can't even play the game without it anymore.

  • New ultra-rare ore that can be found in any dimension
  • New color-changing armor that increases your max health and provides passive regeneration
  • New tools that can destroy and harvest multiple blocks at once
  • New swords that cause AOE damage
  • New arrows that cause high-damage explosions on impact (1.1.0+)
  • Powerful Spectrite versions of Vanilla mobs to challenge your combat skills and let you gain experience faster (1.3.0+)
  • A much harder version of the Wither that drops materials to craft a powerful weapon that lets you fire your own wither skulls (1.5.0+)
  • A huge randomly generated dungeon in each world full of Spectrite loot (1.2.0+)
  • Rare skull-shaped structures made of Spectrite Bone containing a high-tier chest at the top (1.4.0+)
  • Rainbow beacons! (1.4.0+)

        Known Bugs
        • The name of the Spectrite Legend Sword and Perfect Spectrite Legend Sword cannot be changed; this is because the text formatting in the default name would cause of mess of formatting characters translated into text, so this is an intential bug added to prevent a worse bug
        • Changing dimensions with a Spectrite Armour max health boost may not appear to carry over into other dimensions and may cause buggy behaviour when taking damage (this is a Vanilla bug)
        • Double Spectrite Chests have a buggy block breaking texture and, on one side, will disappear from view at a certain angle due to something along the lines of the double chest assuming the single chest's bounds

          Love the mod, it gives me a reason to go into the nether other than transportation, but I think there's a bug or something wrong with the documentation because it's not crafting the Spectrite Compass with the recipe in the document.

          Good catch, I forgot to update it. Use the same recipe as a regular compass but with Spectrite Blocks.

          I like to think it's a decent mod but it's nothing to get emotional over. Some of the mods out there add like a dozen dimensions, this one is fairly small.

          This mod? No, it was built on top of Forge. Unless there are some drastic changes with Mojang's view on modding there will never be as close to as much freedom for modders without Forge in the future as there is with Forge now. Modders use it because you can do pretty much anything you can think of if you're willing to put in the effort. With something like Bukkit that works for everyone, you are very restricted in what you can do.

          You're right, that would be kind of awesome. I think I might start on that tomorrow night. Though, Spectrite Arrows would be expensive to craft (kind of like Guardian Arrows in LoZ BotW, but more so). Perhaps it would turn normal arrows into Spectrite Arrows when fired, but only when the cooldown finishes?

          Thanks, and I get that the arrows explode (without hurting allies) but I don't have any ideas for the shield yet. Were you thinking of anything in particular? Regular shields already block 100% of damage.

          Maybe the shield creates a force field that has a block radius, and would shield you from all attacks (Wither skull bombs, hostile mobs etc.)

          Maybe something like that, though I just realized, if I follow the crafting pattern I've been using, I would have 2 shields with 2 recipes: 6 diamond blocks with 1 Spectrite Gem, and 6 Spectrite blocks with 1 Spectrite Gem, and that's a crazy amount of materials, so that 2nd shield would have to have an extremely high durability to compensate.

          (Or maybe I should break the convention by using gems instead of blocks so that the shields don't cost way more materials than anything else?)

          Maybe there's a Spectrite enchantment that spawns rarely in chests that rarely spawn in the Nether, and this enchantment would only work for the shield which would give its awesome power.

          I might add enchantments eventually but I think I'll start with those 3 items. Also for the shield recipes I feel like the best way to go is a Spectrite block with 6 diamonds and a Spectrite block with 6 Spectrite Gems. This differs from the Vanilla pattern but makes more sense in this case.

          Hey, just logged on to PMC tonight and saw this. Looks pretty sweet! Do you mind if I use it for a modded survival series on my YouTube channel? I think this would be pretty fun to play with in-game.
          Question: how might one raise the chance of finding Spectrite? Because it isn't an option when making a custom world.

          Make sure you tweak the configuration just right, Spectrite is very rare by default and you might never find it in the Surface unless you raise the chances, though the tools and armour are very overpowered so if your series is long-term, maybe it's better you start finding them in the Nether.

          Sorry but so much has changed between pre-1.8 and 1.11.2 that I don't think I'd be up for backporting it. I'm not even sure I could replicate the animated blocks and items in that version (though it could be possible, I've only modded for 1.8+). If someone else wants to backport it themselves, I will definitely keep it updated.

          I've been experimenting with modding since just before 1.9 came out but I haven't fully finished one until now. This mod was really just part of a much bigger mod I never finished and I recently decided just to release this on its own since it was practically done by itself.

          sounds nice did you got experience with tileentities? Something like Tubes for a watering system or something? ^^

          I've worked with pretty much everything at some point, including Tile Entities. In the first (unreleased) mod I made, I had an invisible Tile Entity that would trigger custom background music changes. I also made a custom Tile Entity for a custom block called an Item Scanner that worked like a toll booth that requires you to be holding the correct item to provide power to let you through a door. (I really should release that block as its own mod, it's pretty cool)

          sounds really nice ^^ i started with mods like 13 days ago before i had done alot of Bukkit plugins etc. but now iam stuck ^^ like rendering these similar Enderdragon "layer" thingy when it dies to an item ^^

          I did a lot of things inefficiently in my world generation code, which is why I probably won't finish it, but most of the other stuff is probably decent for examples.

          Especially with the one I linked since I used my own logic (that made sense to me) to build my structure instead of the Minecraft standard, and the result is awesome, but it takes so long to generate on slow computers that it might not be worth using for a lot of people. It took me so long to make it that I can't imagine redoing it unless I had a lot of free time, which I don't anymore.
