Hello SilentProdigy,
You have all my support on this project ! I actually tried to do the same thing years ago and ended up with this map : http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/2172019-download-eragon-alagaesia-map-7000x5000-blocks
I had not enough patience to build the towns, but if you are on to that, feel free to take what I've done. You would surely get a better result with worldmachine but if you don't want to use it and still have a decent landscape, I spent an incredible amount of time worldpainting it and I would be glad that someone continues my work.
By the way, if you want, I can also give you the worldpainter file, so you could improve the map by your vision of it.

i support you in this endevor. However, from personal experience i can tell you it will be a very painful, slow process at times i salute you if you can mage this, wiith th buildings.

Haha, thanks for the support! I realize it will be slow, and time consuming. I do not expect this to be fully completed for a range of 4-6 months.
