The AC4400CW was the AC workhorse of many railroads during the 1990's and into the 2000's. Although replaced by the more efficient GE GEVO line of locomotives, the AC4400CW is still found roaming the rails of North America. CEFX, also known as CIT group, is a locomotive leasing company based in the United States. These two specific units, as well as 6 others, have been in service with the Lake Superior and Ishpeming railroad for the past decade, hauling iron ore between the Empire and Tilden Mine and Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
