Hello! Here are new advances on my project of reconstitution of the city of Rouffach, in Alsace, as it was before the revolution!
First, here is the street marshal François Joseph Lefebvre, who was a general officer and marshal of the Empire appointed by Napoleon and born in Rouffach! I will detail more when I reproduce his birth house 🙂
In the meantime, here is the street with the Frœschwiller gate in the background as well as the chapel of the hospital st Jacques stuck to the gate.
Bonjour! Voici de nouvelles avancées sur mon projet de reconstitution de la ville de Rouffach, en alsace, tel que c'étais avant la révolution!
Voici en premier lieu, la rue maréchal François Joseph Lefebvre, qui était un officier général et maréchal d'Empire nommé par Napoléon Ier natif de Rouffach! Je détaillera plus en détails quand je vais reproduire sa maison natale 🙂
En attendant, voici la rue avec la porte de Frœschwiller en fond ainsi que la chapelle de l'hôpital st Jacques collé à la porte.
Here is the St Jacques hospital as it was before the destruction of the old buildings to build the current hospital in 1904. This hospital, mentioned as early as 1304, was a public hospital unlike the other two in the city, which were owned by a religious community. The blind, beggars, foreigners, some sick people and some poor people who could not afford to get a place to live were housed here.
Voici l'hôpital st Jacques tel qu'il était avant la destruction des anciens bâtiments pour construire l'hôpital actuel de 1904. Cet hôpital, cité dès 1304 était un hôpital public contrairement aux deux autres de la ville, détenus par une communauté religieuse. Ici se recueillaient les aveugles, mendiants, étrangers, quelques malades et quelques pauvres qui n'avaient pas les moyens d'obtenir un logement.
The yellow half-timbered house is called the three ladies house because of its oak pillars that support the overhang.
The house at the end of the dead end has Gothic elements and a butcher's crest.
La maison jaune à colombages est nommée la maison aux trois dames à cause de ses piliers en chêne qui soutiennent le surplomb.
La maison au fond de l'impasse comporte des éléments gothiques et un écusson de boucher.
The grey house dates from 1725 and was an inn "au brochet" and later a dyeing factory located on the banks of the Ohmbach, a watercourse that bypassed the old town along the rue Maréchal Lefèbvre. The building shows the evolution of a gothic building, especially visible on the back gable (not visible on the screen).
The house just in front was the former municipal slaughterhouse. Built in 1544, it was used as a slaughterhouse until after the Second World War. Some of the windows in the gable are carved in braces.
La maison grise date de 1725 et était une auberge "au brochet" puis une teinturerie situé au bord de l'Ohmbach, cous d'eau qui contournait la vieille ville en longeant la rue Maréchal Lefèbvre. L'édifice montre l'évolution d'un immeuble gothique, surtout visible au pignon arrière (non visible sur le screen).
La maison juste devant, était l'ancien abattoir municipal. Construit en 1544, il a servi d'abattoir jusqu'après la seconde guerre mondiale. Certaines fenêtres du pignon sont sculptées en accolade.
