The AKS-74u is a Russian based carbine that chambers a 5.45x39mm round. The AKS-74u was a rifle that was produced from 1979–1993. The carbine was a product designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov himself and was manufactured at the Tula Arms Plant in Tula, Russia.


In Apocalypse, The AKS-74u is a compact tier 5 SMG that chambers a 7.62x39mm round, a round that many Russian weapons use. The weapon is mostly found near military outposts and holdouts but can be found in the airport.

The AKS-74u, being compact, allows high maneuverability, and does not come with any movement penalties, but, like most Russian weapons, suffers horrible accuracy, and an awful recoil, but having a high fire rate to make up for this, making the AKS-74u most suitable for urban or close-quarters combat. Aiming and standing still helps weapon accuracy very much, and to boost accuracy, a red dot sight or an Acog can be attached to the weapon, the AKS-74u has also had some of the highest damage against all SMGS.

The AKS-74u is one of the only weapons that have a lack of attachment options, being just behind the South African R4 Rifle, But what it loses in attachment options, it makes up for in the number of exclusive weapon skins.
