Amphion 1778

Amphion was the personal pleasure craft of Swedish King Gustav III. Designed by the great Swedish shipwright Fredrik Henrik af Chapman, Amphion's design was was derivative of Chapman's earlier work on the Turuma, a variety of archipelago frigate (Ships designed for agility within shallower waters, taking after the fashion of the galley or xebec).

She would serve as command ship during the war with Russia in 1788, where she would lose her original stern, however problems with her design and the inherent lethargy of her role meant that Amphion led an uneventful life, eventually being broken up in 1884.
