An-418

The AN-418 is a project of the Soviet long—range wide-body double-deck high-capacity airliner, developed by the Antonov Design Bureau.

The project has been in an abandoned state for a long time and has not been implemented to date. It was essentially a passenger version of the An-124 Ruslan, borrowing the main parts of the fuselage from it, but unlike a cargo aircraft, it had a lower wing arrangement. In the early 1990s, the project was closed. Many developments on the AN-418 project after the collapse of the USSR were transferred to Western firms and formed the basis of the A380 project. The aircraft was not mass-produced, it existed only as a reduced model.
