I replaced the glass with block 36, the moving part of a piston, which is invisible in itself. however, since technical blocks are set to be removed in the 1.7 update, I don't think I'll be able to do this a lot any more.

The fourth one looks the best to me,
but only at the third picture you can see how the water is kept together.
But how did you keep the water at the same place by the other pictures?
