Avalon Keep - Lost City
This massive underground city was built when the mountain dwellers of the Avalon Peaks moved underground and found tremendous veins of gold, diamonds and other precious ores. They built a huge city out of the bones of the earth as they mined these ores and lived off of the fungi that eventually grew there. At one point, unknown to history, they sealed the massive doors that lead to the surface and were never seen from again.

Eventually the demonic hoards of Gorgath arrived through the realm portals and laid waste to all that they had built. Now the city lies in ruin, filled with hoards of ferocious demons, giant spiders, living cubes of molten lava, and vicious little imps ready to tear out the lives of an would be adventurer.

The main inspiration for this city was based on the Dwarven Kingdom Under the Mountain - Erebor, from J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit." We also took inspiration from inspiration from several other sources such as Dragon Age - Origins, WarHammer, and Skyrim's Markarth and Blackreach as well as a variety of other dwarven literature, art and architecture.

The central section of the city is housed inside of an enormous hand crafted cave that is roughly 220 blocks tall, 250 blocks wide, and 300 blocks long. The ceiling is supported by 6 tremendous pillars that are each 30X30. These pillars are filled with glowstone and actually produce most of the light filling the cave. There are several huge bridges spanning the empty air between each pillar proving walkways for citizens and travelers to move freely around the city itself. Several large tunnels, that we have named Deep Roads, interconnect several other large caves and chambers, so this city is actually the hub for a huge network of caverns and fortresses.

Most of the homes and dwellings are build right into the walls of this giant cave, and roads are carved from the natural shelves that formed when we created the cave itself. There are also numerous shops and homes built on and even into the 6 massive pillars holding up the ceiling, you can even find the most popular tavern among this central market slash suspended plaza.
