the melons or pumpkins cant grow

I'm using 1.9 Pre Release 3. I don't know why the melons or pumpkins can't grow. Maybe you have to use "bonemeal" for this. I don't know. Planting melons and pumpkins is new for me.

the melons and pumpkins need 2 spaces 1 for the stem and 1 for the actual block
