I had no idea, from the photos I have seen (which isn't a whole lot) the majority of buildings seemed older and at about the same height as traditional European cities. Kiev at first did not strike me as a building with tons  of skyscrapers, so I thought it was interesting that it does  I was expressing surprise since the only photos I have seen of Kiev are of the main square where the rioting occurred and from those photos the buildings didn't seem to tall :/
